At a brief ceremony yesterday, 26th July, 2023; the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), Sen. Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, MFR; has presented the Brass Oil and Gas (BOG City) Free Zone Regulations, 2023 to the management of the Free Zone.
The ceremony which took place at the Authority’s office in Abuja where the OGFZA boss presented the said Regulations to Mr. Ben Okoye, Managing Director of Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical Company Limited, had in attendance top management of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC), Brass Fertilizer and Petrochemical Company.
The OGFZA boss stated that the Regulations were made pursuant to the powers conferred on the Authority by Section 25 of the Oil and Gas Export Free Zones Act, Cap 05 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and all other powers enabling it in that behalf with the approval of the Honorable Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment.
In his address, Sen. Kaura explained that the objectives of the Regulations are to complement the provisions of the enabling Act and the Oil and Gas Free Zones Regulations, 2019 which also provide details of the regulatory and supervisory requirements necessary to promote efficient and profitable operations in BOG City as well as facilitate the attainment of the goals for which the Free Zone is established.
Expressing gratitude to the Authority, Mr. Okoye, on behalf of the BOG City licensees assured management of OGFZA of total compliance and adherence to the rules of the Regulations.
Brass Oil and Gas (BOG) City Free Zone, located in Brass Island, Bayelsa State; was established in 2015 by the former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
